Why nobody wants to buy this beautiful $18 million home

Everyone knows that real estate in New York City comes at a premium. But there’s one spectacular estate in Brooklyn currently on the market for a cool $18 million that no one wants to buy—possibly because of its checkered past.

The mansion was originally built and owned by John Rosatti, a multi-millionaire with mob connections to the Colombo crime family. The current owner is Russian heiress Galina Anisimova, mother of woman known as the “Russian Paris Hilton.” Check out this video that gives you a virtual tour of the lavish property.

On and off the market for four years, the 14,000-square-foot property just can’t seem to attract a buyer. The home has been listed for as high as $30 million when it first hit the market in 2013 to as low as $12.5 million in 2016.

The current asking price of $18 million comes with some serious amenities, according to the real estate listing. Located in a gated compound, the home has four water-view master suites, eight full spa paths, two elegant powder rooms, a fully-finished lower level and multiple terraces that amount to 5,500 square feet of outdoor space.

There’s also a downstairs wine cellar, a sauna, an elevator, solarium, “architectural gardens” and a “circular Zen meditation room.” Talk about luxury living!

In addition to the main home, there is a 7,800-square-foot guest house, a 1,000-square-foot swimming pool and spa, an outdoor pavilion with seating for 40, plus an outdoor kitchen and a multi-slip marina.

Wondering what a mortgage payment on an $18 million home looks like? A mortgage calculator available on the real estate listing site says you’ll be forking over $89,170 a month on a 20-year mortgage with a 4.25 percent interest rate and 20 percent down. Don’t forget the monthly real estate tax, which clocks in at $2,637.
