Copycat Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nugget And Sauce Recipe

Chick-Fil-A makes a great chicken nugget. It’s probably my favorite fast food option when I’m traveling and it’s always the one fast food that I crave when I haven’t had it for a while.

The good news is that Passion For Savings has created a recipe that replicates those tasty nuggets so you can make them at home and save a little money.

This would be perfect for any sports party, kids’ lunches or an easy dinner.

Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Ken’s Steakhouse Honey Mustard Dressing (or another honey mustard dressing)
  • 1 tsp Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar

Nuggets:

  • 1 cup Dill Pickle Juice
  • 1 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 1/2 cup Flour
  • 3 tbsp Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • Peanut Oil

Directions:

1. To make the sauce, combine the honey mustard dressing, BBQ sauce, vinegar and set aside.

2. Cut the chicken breasts into small bite size nuggets and place them in a zip-lock bag with the pickle juice.  Shake up and marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

3. Combine egg and milk into a large bowl.

4. Drain the pickle juice from the chicken and add to the chicken to the egg/milk mixture in the bowl.  Toss to ensure all the pieces are coated.

5. In a zip-lock bag, combine flour, powered sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper and shake well to mix.

6. Add chicken to the bag and shake to get the chicken coated.

7. Heat oil on medium heat (to about 375 degrees)

8. Cook the chicken in oil until there is a golden crispy crust (around 3-4 minutes)

9. Remove chicken and drain the excess grease on paper towels.

How Many Chick-fil-A Nuggets Could You Eat In One Sitting?

Chicken nuggets are definitely one of those addictive, can’t-eat-just-one foods. Much like chips, French fries, or Hershey’s Kisses, once you have a couple, you want a couple more. Uproxx Sports Senior Writer Robby Kalland took that notion to the extreme when he ate an incredible 82 Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets in one sitting.

When Kalland heard that a Chick-fil-A location near him in Marietta, Georgia, was a holding and “All You Can Eat Nugget Night,” he considered it a challenge he had no choice but to accept.

To come up with a personal goal for the challenge, Kalland based it on basketball star Kobe Bryant’s highest-scoring game, during which he scored 82 points. If Bryant could score 82 points in a single game, Kalland figured he could surely put down 82 nuggets during a single meal. It doesn’t make a ton of sense, sure, but I like the metaphor.

Kalland went in with bravado, posting a picture of himself outside the restaurant declaring himself the champ before putting one single nugget to his lips:

Chick-fil-A didn’t plan the “all you can eat” evening as a competition, but Kalland had set a personal goal for himself, and he was determined to accomplish it. For $12.99, customers who wished to participate received 12 nuggets, a medium fry and a medium drink. The drink and nuggets were refillable, while the fries were not. Kalland decided to forgo the fries altogether in order to save room for as many nuggets as possible, of course.

In just the first 18 minutes, Kalland managed to polish off 36 nuggets.
