The official portraits from Prince Louis’ christening are here—and they’re stunning
Prince Louis’ official christening portraits were released Sunday — and they beautifully capture the royal family on their special day.
Parents Prince William and Kate Middleton selected photographer Matt Holyoak to snap the official photos, which were taken in the Morning Room at Clarence House (where Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, reside), following Prince Louis’ baptism in the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace.
The first photo released on the Kensington Palace Instagram page features several members of the royal crew: Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and their three children, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Prince Charles and Camilla.
Kate’s family is also featured, including Carole and Michael Middleton, James Middleton, Pippa Middleton — who is pregnant with her first child — and Pippa’s husband, James Matthews.

Another photo features only the royal family members. Take note of Princess Charlotte, 3, paying extra attention to her baby brother.

There is also a photo of the party of five: Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and their three children.

But perhaps the most touching snapshots are those of Duchess Kate holding her youngest child.

The gown Prince Louis wore is the Royal Christening Robe, which was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria’s oldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal. The heirloom is made of Honiton lace and lined with white satin, and has been passed down through the generations.
Several members of the royal family — including Prince George and Princess Charlotte — have worn the dress, making it even more meaningful on Prince Louis’ special day.

Photographer Holyoak said in a statement: “I was truly honored at being asked to take the official photographs at the christening of Prince Louis, and to witness at first hand such a happy event. Everyone was so relaxed and in such good spirits, it was an absolute pleasure. I only hope I have captured some of that joy in my photographs.”
By the looks of the sweet pictures, it’s safe to say he did.
