You Can Now Order Zoodles At Olive Garden
If you’re on the keto diet or are simply watching your carbs, you might look at pasta as the enemy.
It’s easy to order a burger without a bun or swap a side of potatoes for veggies, but skipping spaghetti?
Personally, it’s out of the question.
If pasta has a place in your heart, too, I have some good news.
You no longer have to fear going out for some Italian with the family, because Olive Garden has officially added zucchini noodles to their menu.
Olive Garden’s new Zoodles Primavera dish contains no pasta, just spiralized zucchini, and comes tossed in a light basil cream sauce with broccoli, carrots, seasoned tomatoes, roasted red peppers and mushrooms.
The dinner portion of the dish contains five servings of daily vegetables and starts at $14.99.
You can add chicken for $2 or shrimp for $4, or stop in for a lunch portion for just $8.99.
The new dish, without the addition of meat, is part of Olive Garden’s Tastes of the Mediterranean menu.
The menu includes meals under 600 calories and is inspired by flavors and ingredients from Italy’s Mediterranean coast.
Other dishes on the Mediterranean-inspired menu include herb-grilled salmon, shrimp scampi and chicken margherita, a chicken breast topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto and a lemon garlic sauce.
Of course, the dishes all include unlimited soup or salad and Olive Garden’s famous breadsticks.
If you want to try your hand at making zoodles yourself, you’ll find it’s not as hard as it may seem.
While you will need a spiralizer, once you have it, making noodles is pretty easy.
Just take a look at this recipe from “O” magazine for zucchini “spaghetti” with pesto that calls for four ingredients: zucchini, olive oil, pesto and parmesan.
Or, if you’d rather have a lasagna-style meal, you can easily use veggies instead of pasta there too.
Just pick up a mandoline slicer and a zucchini and you can make your own veggie noodles, then layer them just like you would in a regular lasagna.
Skinny Taste has a recipe that looks like it will even please carb-lovers.
And don’t forget about other vegetables — like butternut squash — that can make for tasty noodles.
Check out this recipe for Butternut Squash Noodles With Sweet Potato & Greens over at Kale Me Maybe.
In this dish, spiralized butternut squash noodles are cooked up with tomatoes, onion, sweet potatoes and collard greens for a hearty and nutritious pasta-free meal.
