Actress and singer Olivia Newton-John has accomplished a lot in her lifetime, and that includes beating cancer twice. The “Grease” star recently opened up about her current cancer diagnosis, which marks her third time battling the disease.

During an appearance on the Australian show “Sunday Night” on Sept. 10, Newton-John revealed that last year, doctors found a tumor in her lower back. She has undergone radiation and has cut sugar out of her diet as part of her treatment plan.

She is also taking cannabis oil for pain. She’s hoping that Australia will legalize medical marijuana to help people who are dealing with painful diseases. “A lot of cannabis, my husband [John Easterling] grows for me,” she explained on the show. “In California, it’s legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes.”

“He makes me tinctures,” she continued. “And they help with pain, they help with sleep. So, I’m very lucky that I live in a state where it’s legal and that I have a husband that is a plant medicine man.”

The entertainer was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, which she beat after undergoing a partial mastectomy. She was once again diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.

Despite her hardships, Newton-John expressed gratitude for her “incredible career” as well as the strength and support she receives from her husband.

“My husband’s always there, and he’s always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it and that’s my goal,” she said.

Newton-John, 69, became an advocate for breast cancer screening and prevention in the wake of her original diagnosis 26 years ago, and she created the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Research Center in her native Melbourne, Australia to help others who were experiencing what she had.

“When I went through cancer the first time, I did chemotherapy, even though I was very afraid of doing it,” she said during an appearance on NBC’s “Today” last year. “But I also did a lot of supportive things for myself. To have a place that supports the people that are going through it and their families is my dream. It’s here. And I’m so thrilled.”
