With gyms and other fitness centers closing down across the country, you might worry about this, as well. Fortunately, the health industry is stepping up to the challenge and offering an array of online exercise options you can access from the safety of your home.
This list of virtual workout classes includes a variety of fitness approaches so you can find the right option to stay healthy while staying home.
If you are a fan of the “Y,” you might enjoy the variety of free workouts now available on the virtual YMCA via YouTube. These free YMCA360 videos range from barre and bootcamp to yoga and fitness for older adults. While these classes are always free to YMCA members, they are currently available at no charge to the general public.
2. Planet Fitness: ‘Home Work-Ins’
While the chain has temporarily closed its fitness clubs, Planet Fitness is offering free daily online workouts. Called “Home Work-Ins,” the 20-minute workouts are available on Facebook Live. Trainers and surprise celebrity guests will lead the sessions.
3. Blink Fitness: ‘Get Up And Blink’
Another gym that has closed its locations to promote social distancing, Blink Fitness is also providing daily virtual workouts. At 8 a.m. every Monday through Friday, they are hosting online video sessions, offering motivational tips and answering viewers’ fitness questions. You can join them on Facebook Live.
4. Do Yoga With Me
With a mission to bring free yoga to the world to achieve greater wellbeing, Do Yoga With Me provides high-quality, online yoga instruction videos on its website. The company has hundreds of free videos available with classes for all experience levels.
This boxing-inspired group fitness class provider has decided to offer “social fitnessing” in the midst of social distancing. In this Instagram post, the company explained that it will be sharing “Rumble-inspired, cardio & bodyweight workouts (NO equipment necessary‼️) for you to do at home” every day via Instagram Live.
6. 305 Fitness
If you’ve never heard of 305 Fitness, it’s a line of cardio dance class studios with locations across the U.S. Described as an “addictive 55-minute dance party,” the company explains that “we’re all about twerking hard while loving and appreciating our bodies exactly the way they are.” Although its studios are closed during the coronavirus outbreak, the 305 Fitness YouTube channel is hosting free, live classes and is packed with full-length workout videos that can be accessed by anyone right now.
7. Ally Mortensen
Yoga teacher Ally Mortensen is offering multiple online classes throughout the week. In a recent Instagram post, she shared a schedule.
“I am beyond excited to make this a part of our regular schedule during this time of chaos and uncertainty,” she wrote. “ALL LEVELS WELCOMED! I’ll be offering multiple layers to all exercises to make this accessible for you to do with those you are quarantined with!”
Classes include yoga warmup, HIIT circuits (high-intensity interval training) and yoga cool-down.
Like other companies, Barry’s made the decision to close all of its fitness studios across the U.S. and Canada during this time. In the meantime, it is providing a variety of free workouts on Instagram. So far, Barry’s has provided total-body workouts using bodyweight only, as well as daily band workouts.
Florida-based Orangetheory Fitness has closed its studios during the coronavirus outbreak. However, the company is still offering daily 30-minute workouts. You can access the coach-led workouts on its website and YouTube channel. Check out the one posted on March 18 for an example of how they work.
10. Fitness Blender
With more than 500 free workouts on its website, Fitness Blender has something for everyone. Video sessions range from 10 to 85 minutes in length with experience levels ranging from beginner to athlete. Options include HIIT, Pilates, strength training and more.
