Oreo Is Releasing Gluten-Free Cookies
This is good news for anyone who has to follow a gluten-free diet!
The products and services mentioned below were selected independent of sales and advertising. However, Simplemost may receive a small commission from the purchase of any products or services through an affiliate link to the retailer's website.
One sweet treat that has been off-limits for those who are gluten-free is Oreo cookies, but beginning next year, that will change. The cookie will soon be available in two new gluten-free varieties: classic Oreo and Double Stuf!
Nabisco announced the new cookie on Twitter, saying it will hit stores beginning in January 2021. An Oreo representative tells Simplemost the two gluten-free versions of the classic cookies will be permanent additions to the Oreo line-up.
Some fans who need a wheat-free option expressed their delight in the replies on Twitter, including @TheJGSIntern, who wrote, “as someone who recently discovered she has Celiac…I’ve not been able to indulge in this absolutely delicious cookie!!”
OMG!!!! Thank you!!!! 😭😭😭 as someone who recently discovered she has Celiac….I’ve not been able to indulge in this absolutely delicious cookie!! Thank you @Oreo for thinking of us mandatory gluten-free folks!!

Others expressed concerns about different allergens, including @Dreamer_E3, who wrote, “I’m trying not to get too hype because I have a soy and nut allergy on top of having celiac.”
I'm trying not to get too hype because I have a soy and nut allergy on top of having celiac. Whenever I get excited about a product I end up disappointed because it usually contains one of them 😩.

While this is the first time Oreos have been gluten-free, many other bakeries make gluten-free cookies that you can buy at the store. Kinnikinnick Foods has gluten-free chocolate sandwich cream cookies, which are similar to an Oreo, as well as fudge sandwich creme cookies and vanilla sandwich creme cookies, which are similar to a Golden Oreo.
There are other gluten-free cookies on the market as well, including Birthday Cake Creme Cookies by Goodie Girl, which you can find at Target, and the brand Pamela’s has gluten-free chocolate chip cookies in stores nationwide. If you have an Aldi near you, you can also find Simply Nature Coconut Cashew Crisps in chocolate, sea salt caramel and vanilla, which are gluten-free, paleo and vegan.
You can also bake your own gluten-free cookies, as all you’ll need is gluten-free flour, plus other ingredients depending on what flavor of cookie is your favorite.
Are you excited to try Oreo’s new gluten-free cookies when they hit store shelves next year?
