Panera Releases Its First New Soup in 3 Years: Ten Vegetable
While I love cold and snowy weather, my favorite thing about winter is soup. Lots and lots of soup.
As a vegetarian, it can be hard to find soups in stores and restaurants that don’t contain chicken broth or animal enzymes. They’re often hidden ingredients, even in places you wouldn’t expect them, like vegetable soups.
Panera Bread clearly knew my frustrations, however, because the chain eatery has now introduced their first-ever vegan soup. Plant-based and Mediterranean diet-approved, the new Ten Vegetable soup is Panera’s first new soup in three years. It is now available at locations nationwide.
As the name implies, this soup contains plenty of veggies. It includes everything from fire-roasted tomatoes and yellow and red bell peppers to onions, corn, carrots, spinach, poblano peppers and celery. The soup also features garbanzo beans, sprouted brown rice, red fife (which is a variety of wheat) and dried Aleppo chili.
The entire thing then gets served and topped off with a lemon wheel. Basically, it’s the perfect delicious meal to have when you’re trying to stay warm during this cold weather season — and it’s nutritional too!
The soup will be on Panera’s daily menu. You can get it in your preferred size, choosing from a cup, bowl or bread bowl. If you’re watching your waistline, you may be happy to know the entire bowl is also only 100 calories.
At a pretty affordable cost, the dish is also a budget-friendly option if you’re looking to pick up a warm meal during the work week. A cup of the new soup costs $5.19, while you can get a bowl for $1 more.
If you’re wanting a treat when you head to Panera, you’ll also find new pastries on the menu, including almond and chocolate croissants. Obviously, neither of these are exactly low-calorie options, but they do look absolutely delicious. Just check out this yummy-looking treat:
