Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s sons took a selfie together

Fans of the Beatles surely did a double-take when Paul McCartney’s son, James McCartney, and John Lennon’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, took a selfie together and posted it to Instagram. The two descendants of rock royalty certainly look a lot like their famous fathers — a lot — and if the photo is any proof, they also share a strong friendship just like their dads.

Check out the awesome picture of the sons, which Lennon captioned simply, “Peekaboo”:

Sean, 42, is the son of the late Lennon and Yoko Ono, and has one brother, Julian, 55, who is the elder Lennon’s son with his ex-wife, Cynthia Lennon. James, 40, is one of four children of McCartney with his late wife, Linda McCartney. His three sisters are Heather, Mary and Stella. McCartney also had one daughter, Beatrice, with his ex-wife, Heather Mills.

James has followed in his father’s footsteps as a singer and songwriter, and has contributed to some of his dad’s solo albums. Sean is also a musician and actor as well and has collaborated musically with his mother.

The duo’s selfie attracted a lot of attention on Instagram, and it has racked up more than 39,000 likes. People took to the comments to express their hope that the photo might be a sign that a musical collaboration between the two sons of rock ‘n’ roll legends may be on the horizon.

“I’ll reserve the full-on squee until I see a selfie featuring Sean, James, Zac and Dhani… with instruments… in a rehearsal room,” read one comment, referencing Beatles drummer Ringo Starr’s son, Zak Starkey, who is also a drummer, and musician Dhani Harrison, son of Beatles singer and guitarist George Harrison.

Fans just may be onto something, as earlier this month, Sean posted another snap of himself along with Dhani:

Here’s hoping that the Beatles’ talented progeny “come together” for an epic next-generation continuation of their dads’ musical legacy!
