Paul McCartney And Jimmy Fallon Surprised Fans in An Elevator—And It’s Pretty Funny

Comedian Jimmy Fallon and Paul McCartney were up to some pretty hilarious shenanigans recently when they surprised unsuspecting visitors who were on a tour of 30 Rockefeller Center.

The fans’ reactions were filmed in early September as part of a segment featured on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Sept. 6 — and judging by their excited gasps, it’s safe to say Beatlemania is alive and well.

Fallon and McCartney set up shop in a lobby just off the building’s elevators, hilariously treating visitors to a funny scene each time the doors opened on their floor. Lounging around in velvet robes, playing a game of ping pong and performing magic were all on the agenda.

Upon noticing the pair, one fan said, “No way!” To which the 76-year-old singer replied, “Oh yeah way!”

Each group has a priceless reaction, including one woman who starts to walk toward the pair with her hands excitedly covering her mouth before the elevator operator stops her (really, can you blame her?).

Another group is greeted by the duo performing a magic trick: Fallon holds up a blanket, and when he drops it, McCartney is standing behind it.

One fan said, “I thought when I was little I was going to marry Paul McCartney. So that’s the closest I ever got, and I am thrilled.”

Of course, Fallon added his own special touch by ending the segment with him and McCartney playing “Drive My Car” as they waited to surprise another group.

But when the doors open, the elevator is empty, leaving the host and McCartney with no choice but to hop on, playfully nudging one another as they do.

McCartney stopped by “The Tonight Show” to celebrate the release of his 17th solo album, “Egypt Station.” You can listen to one of his new songs below:

Clearly, fans were treated to more than just a run-of-the-mill performance, instead nabbing a chance to see the musician’s playful side.

The 76-year-old McCartney told the BBC recently that he enjoys modern music, unlike some people his age who can’t let go of the past. He said he enjoyed working with Kanye West on the single “Four Five Seconds,” which also featured Rihanna.

“I listen to people, and I think there’s a lot of good stuff going on, myself,” he said. “But no, a lot of people my generation will say, ‘Oh, music’s not as good as it used to be.’ But I always say, ‘No, that’s what our parents said.'”
