Do you make your bed in the morning? Studies show that making your bed each day can make you happier. But why? It leaves you with a sense of accomplishment first thing in the morning, and a sense of organization when you come home after work.
Author, Gretchen Rubin, told Real Simple, “When I was researching my book on happiness, this was the number one most impactful change that people brought up over and over.”
And more evidence supports this. Huffington Post reports that Author Charles Duhigg wrote in his book, “making your bed every morning is correlated with better productivity, a greater sense of well-being, and stronger skills at sticking with a budget.”
So what’s the best way to make your bed with the least amount of effort? Clean My Space gives us a quick how-to.
Here’s a summary of her video:
- Clear everything off your bed, except the fitted sheet.
- Adjust your fitted sheet so it’s pulled down around all 4 corners.
- Lay on your flat sheet and either tuck it in (like a hospital corner) or leave it untucked. *NOte* If there’s a pattern, lay it pattern side down.
- Layer on your duvet.
- Fold back the fitted sheet & top cover about 1/4 way to expose the pretty patterned sheet.
- Top with pillows.
She also provides tips and advice on how often you should wash bedding, pillows and comforters.
