Pete Davidson confirmed his engagement to Ariana Grande

Rumors have been circulating saying Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson are engaged, but given how quickly their relationship seemed to form, it was hard to know exactly what was true and what wasn’t. The couple hadn’t officially confirmed the news, but had posted somewhat cryptic social media posts that definitely alluded to an engagement. But now, “SNL’s” Davidson is here to set the record straight.

He confirmed in an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that he and the singer are indeed engaged to be married.

Fallon prompted the conversation by saying, “You know, you didn’t have to get engaged to Ariana Grande to come on our show.”

And Davidson responded, “But I did, though.” He continued, “I feel like I won a contest.”

Davidson couldn’t stop gushing about how happy the engagement has made him, and one of his favorite parts is probably the reaction he gets from other men.

“Some dude came up to me, and he was like, ‘Yo man, you gave me hope,'” Davidson said. “And I’m like, ‘I didn’t know I was that ugly,'” he joked.

Davidson and Grande were first rumored to be dating around the time of the Billboard Music Awards on May 20, and the couple became “Instagram official” on May 30:

But their relationship moved quickly from there. Because shortly after, Grande began wearing a ring on that finger, which Davidson reportedly bought for $100,000.

The engagement rumors seemingly became more than rumors when Davidson posted a photo of the ring on Instagram:

He captioned the photo, “u [sic] know what you’d dream it be like? it’s better than that.”

Grande also posted about her now-fiancé, alluding to the fact that he’s her dream-turned-reality.

“[I] thought u [sic] into my life,” she wrote. “[W]oah! look at my mind.”

Grande also confirmed via Instagram stories that she and Davidson got an apartment and are moving in together.

It’s been a whirlwind romance for these two — but what can they say? When you know, you know.
