First look at Disney World’s new Toy Story Land restaurant

Disney

A few months ago, Disney announced Toy Story Land would be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the summer of 2018. And now we’re getting even more details about what the attraction has in store for “Toy Story” fans. Along with the Slinky Dog Dash ride and the Alien Swirling Saucers, the exhibit will feature a restaurant, appropriately named Woody’s Lunch Box.

Stepping inside Toy Story Land will make you feel as though you’ve shrunken to the size of a toy, according to the Disney Parks blog. You’ll get to explore Andy’s backyard and all of his fun creations.

For example, Woody’s Lunch Box will be fashioned out of a lunch box and a thermos. Together, they create a walk-up quick service establishment.

On the menu: “tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats.” Yummy! As far as an official menu—you’ll have to keep an eye out on the Disney Parks blog for that.

As you can see in the models below, Toy Story Land is going to be an adorable little world that will allow kids and adults alike to celebrate the power of imagination. After all, without Andy’s creativity and playful spirit, none of these rides or restaurants could exist.

Aside from Woody’s Lunch Box, the main attractions are those crafted from the toys in the film. The Slinky Dog Dash ride was fashioned after the “Toy Story” Slinky character, and is already in the works. It’s made to move like a slinky with unpredictable, wobbly motions.

“This is a ride for the whole family: it’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s thrilling, but it’s not scary,” Imagineer Bob Vignec told the Disney Parks blog. “It’s a rollercoaster, but it’s also this fun character that will be out in the land. You sort of get a little bit of goosebumps seeing it here for the first time.”

The blog has chronicled the Slinky Dog Dash ride’s evolution from start…

… to finish.

As for the Alien Swirling Saucers, they’re going to create a fun game of cat and mouse, so to speak. But it’s more like arcade toys vs. “The Claw.”

According to Disney, the saucers were “designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, in which Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture guests’ rocket toy vehicles with ‘The Claw.'”
