Madonna is as famous for her striking looks and unique fashion sense as she is for her music. Over the years, she has been the subject of a number of iconic photographs. While no one can quite match Madge’s one-of-a-kind swagger, Max the golden retriever is giving her a run for her money.
Max’s human is Paris-based celebrity-portrait photographer Vincent Flouret and, over the past three years, he has used Max as his subject to recreate some amazing celebrity photos. Most recently, Flouret and Max have turned their attention to some of the most iconic photos of the Material Girl herself.

Any Madonna-themed photo shoot naturally has to include a replica of her signature cone-bra corset worn in a shoot for Harper’s Bazaar in 1990:

And, in case you were wondering, yes, Flouret covered some of Madonna’s more racy looks. He dressed Max up in an outfit inspired by the singer’s “Erotica” video, complete with a whip, a mask and a black-and-white filter.

Of course, pulling off this extremely detailed project was no easy feat.
“Between visual research, sourcing materials, training Max, making the costumes, building the sets, and of course studying the light and taking the pictures, this project took a total of eight months to bring to life,” Flouret told BuzzFeed.
Flouret’s photos from this collection are on exhibition at L’Agence Arlesienne in Arles, France through Aug. 16. Proceeds form signed prints of the photos will be donated to Madonna’s charity, Raising Malawi, which supports orphans and other vulnerable children in Africa.
In case you were wondering, this is what Max looks like when he’s not playing Madonna or another famous celebrity, pictured here alongside Flouret:
