Hoda Kotb became a mom to a second baby girl, Hope Catherine Kotb, and couldn’t wait to share the news with her “Today” family. She announced that she had adopted a second child in a phone call to the show so she could tell her co-hosts all about the joys she’d already experienced as a new mom of two.
“It’s a girl,” Kotb emotionally announced over the phone. “Oh my god, you guys … I can’t believe it. I mean look, it’s like maybe you think you’ve gotten what you deserve — but man, I’m so happy she’s here,” the overjoyed mom said.
You can hear the announcement in a clip from “Today’s” YouTube channel:
And now that the mom is settling in to life with two little ones, it’s finally time for her co-hosts to meet the little bundle of joy in person. Al Roker had the chance to meet Hope, and he posted about his visit with Kotb and her family on Instagram.
Based on the photos, it was a day filled with pure joy and non-stop smiling.
He posted a series of photos that show him holding the new baby and reading to her older sister, Haley Joy, while smiling alongside Kotb and her mom, a proud grandma.
The caption read, “So much #happiness spending time with @hodakotb, Grandma Sami and the reason I can’t stop smiling, Big Sister Haley Joy and the newest addition to #TeamHodaandJoel Hope Catherine”:
Roker isn’t the only “Today” host who’s had a chance to meet Hope in person, either. Savannah Guthrie also posted a photo of herself with the happy Kotb family:
“Holding on to dear Hope! The joy and gratitude of @hodakotb makes my heart sing,” she wrote on Instagram:
As you can see from this photo, co-host Jenna Bush Hager was also able to visit with Guthrie. She posted the same photo to Instagram adding her own caption, “Baby HOPE!!!!! Best day ever!!!” She also noted that after the visit there was “not one tear left” because they cried so many happy tears together.
And just after this happy news came from Kotb, Hager announced some very exciting baby-related news of her own on a “Today” segment that aired April 22. Hager is expecting her third child!
The “Today” show posted about the announcement to their Twitter account, and you can hear Hager tell the exciting news in the clip:
