Pierce Brosnan and his wife celebrate 25 years together

Actor Pierce Brosnan is about to celebrate a very special milestone. August 4, 2018, marks his 17th wedding anniversary with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith. Back in 2001, the couple married in Brosnan’s native Ireland.

However, they’ve actually been together for quite a bit longer than that. On July 19, Brosnan took to Instagram to mark another impressive milestone: a whole quarter-century of being in a relationship with his wife. Alongside a sweet photo of the two, the star of several James Bond movies wrote, “Thank you for the love my love of these past 25 years, onwards…”

The two look adorably in love in the photo, which has now garnered more than 39,000 likes. Fans flooded the comments section with messages of congratulations for the actor and his actress-turned-television-journalist wife.

One wrote: “You two are inspiring in so many ways! Congrats!!” Others simply said they loved how Brosnan expressed his love for his wife.

Brosnan’s first wife, Cassandra Harris, died of ovarian cancer in 1991. Although he was shattered, Brosnan found love again in Smith.

“You have to trust and follow your heart,” Brosnan told Closer Weekly earlier this year about starting over again after Harris’ tragic death. “And try to meet the best people in life. When Keely looks at me, I go weak. I love her vitality, her passion. She has this strength that I wouldn’t be able to live without.”

It certainly seems like he has met his match in Smith. The couple has two sons together, 21-year-old Dylan and 17-year-old Paris.

This is not the first time that Brosnan has been outspoken about his passionate love for his wife.

“She is the most beautiful woman and someone who has been my North Star for many a day and a year now,” he said of Smith in a 2013 interview with Mirror Online. “We met when I was like Philip [his character in the movie ‘Love Is All You Need,’ a widower struggling in the wake of his wife’s death], adrift. I’d lost my wife and been a widower for three years.”

“Keely is the backbone of our family, of my life, and I tell her that I love her every day,” Brosnan continued. “I tell her that she’s beautiful and I couldn’t have done it without her.”

He added: “My wife is very cool.”
