Sweet photo shows Pink’s brother saluting during her Super Bowl national anthem performance

It’s a huge honor to be invited to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, but the opportunity might be even more meaningful when you come from a military family.

When Pink sang the anthem before Sunday’s game, it was an undoubtedly a special moment between the pop star and her brother, Lt. Col. Jason Moore.

Leading up to the big game, Pink’s brother was excited to watch the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots. He went so far as to sing the Eagles fight song on his flight to the game. The siblings’ hometown is in Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia.

Pink’s husband, Carey Hart, posted the photo to his Instagram with the simple caption: “My brother in law Lieutenant Colonel Jason Moore, during the national anthem that his sister is singing, at the super bowl. #America.” The powerful image was liked more than 100,000 times in a matter of hours.

According to the singer, the chance to sing the anthem on this stage is something she’d been dreaming of for a long time.

“I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come,” she wrote on Instagram. And the moment was made even better considering her family was there to hear her and support her. “I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world.”

Fans of the singer and now, her brother, said they couldn’t imagine how proud their parents must be. They took to Twitter to congratulate the family.

Another fan gave her props for nailing the anthem while feeling under the weather.

After her performance, the singer got to watch the game and Justin Timberlake’s halftime show with her family.
