Pink is getting a Hollywood star
The singer-songwriter commonly known as Pink is set to receive one of Hollywood’s highest honors — a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For someone who has already won three Grammy awards and sold over 50 million albums over the past two decades, this is just the cherry on top of an amazing career that’s still going strong.
Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, shared the news in a press release, writing that those involved in the selection process were excited to celebrate Pink’s legacy, and her many contributions to pop culture.
“She is a unique performer who leaves you in a state of joy and surprise at the same time,” wrote Martinez. “She mesmerizes the audience with her voice and her action-packed performances.”
The “So What” singer will be the 2,656th celebrity to be celebrated with a star. Other recent recipients include the Golden Globe-winning actress Taraji P. Henson and Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Gustavo Dudamel.
So what does it take to earn a star?
According to the website for the Hollywood Walk of Fame, those nominated are evaluated based upon their professional achievement, the longevity of their entertainment careers and their contributions to the community. It’s clear that Pink was a shoo-in.
In addition to her long and illustrious music career, Pink is also an active philanthropist, and she’s worked with UNICEF, Make a Wish Foundation, Autism Speaks, Human Rights Campaign and No Kid Hungry.
It’s actually quite amazing how much Pink has managed to accomplish, all while continuing to devote time to her husband, Carey Hart, with whom she recently celebrated a 13th wedding anniversary, and their two children, Jameson (2 years old) and Willow (7 years old). The family of four even toured together recently to help promote Pink’s new album, “Beautiful Trauma.”
“I think it’s cool that they get to see their mom be the boss and work really freaking hard to realize a dream,” Pink told Redbook regarding her decision to take her kids with her on tour.
For those in California — or those trying to figure out their next vacation spot — Pink’s star ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 11:30 a.m. PST. The event will be held at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, in front of the Hollywood & Highland Complex.
Way to go Pink!
