NFL Announces National Anthem And Half Time Performers At Super Bowl LII

Is Super Bowl LLI ready for Pink? The NFL announced today that the 38-year-old pop star will perform the national anthem at the most important football game of the year, taking place on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis, Minn.

By performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to kick-off, Pink will join an elite group of entertainers, including Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Faith Hill, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and the Dixie Chicks.

If you follow Pink on Twitter, you might have guessed she has something exciting on the horizon! She tweeted earlier this week that 2018 would be a big year for her:

“I’m really looking forward to 2018,” she wrote. “I’m really excited about the Grammys. Tour. Some other stuff that’s a secret still and I can’t wait til it’s not a secret.”

Fortunately, the NFL let the cat out of the bag today!

In other Super Bowl LII news, Justin Timberlake will headline the 2018 Super Bowl Pepsi Halftime show. In October, he recruited everyone’s favorite funny guy, Jimmy Fallon for a video skit in which he shared the big news.

Timberlake asked in a faux-accent, “Excuse me, sir, do you have the time?”

“I was going to ask you, sir, if you have the time,” responded Fallon. Timberlake responded, “I do have the time.” The humorous exchange continued, with Fallon asking, “You do have time?”

Timberlake said, “I do have time.” Eventually, the word games ended with Fallon excitedly prodding his friend, “You’re doing the halftime show at the Super Bowl?”

With that, the “Filthy” singer shot a devious look at the camera and the two burst out in excitement:

Timberlake’s performance has some high expectations to meet, as last year’s critically-acclaimed performance by Lady Gaga became the most-watched halftime show in Super Bowl history. Previous halftime show performers in recent years have included Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Missy Elliot, Lenny Kravitz, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Madonna.

This will be Timberlake’s third time performing in the halftime show and a full 14 years after his controversial appearance in the 2004 halftime show performance with Janet Jackson, where the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” took place.
