While you normally wouldn’t associate the pop superstar Pink with country music, she seemed right at home among the genre’s biggest stars at the Country Music Awards on Nov. 8. The singer was there because she was nominated for an award for musical event of the year for her song “Setting the World on Fire,” a duet with country music legend Kenny Chesney.

Pink also took the stage at the awards show for a powerful rendition of “Barbies,” a wistful song about growing up and missing your childhood. Check out her powerful performance that brought the house down in the clip below:

Fans chimed in on social media with their reactions to the star’s performance, with many expressing their support for the blending of musical genres:

Pink wasn’t the only one turning heads at the star-studded event. She brought along her 6-year-old daughter, Willow, as her date for the night, and the mom-and-daughter pair really wowed on the red carpet. Check out their fairytale-esque looks in the snap below. Too cute!

Back in August, Pink won the the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. She used her acceptance speech as an opportunity to address her daughter and make a powerful statement about her own self-image, beauty standards and the way young girls see themselves.

She relayed a story about how Willow had told her she was the “ugliest girl she knew,” and that was she was teased for looking like a “boy with long hair.” Pink told Willow that she had received the same criticism throughout her career and urged her daughter to follow in her footsteps and to never change to meet anyone’s standard of beauty:

“And I said to her, ‘Do you see me growing my hair?’ She said, ‘No, mama.’ I said, ‘Do you see me changing my body?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?’ ‘Yes, Mama.’ ‘OK! So, baby girl. We don’t change. We take the gravel and the shell and we make a pearl. And we help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty.’”

What inspiring words of wisdom from an amazing celebrity mama!
