Pink Velvet Cupcakes Are A Fun Twist On The Original

Baked By Rachel

Red velvet cupcakes are so delicious and pretty that they don’t leave much to be improved upon. But if you’re looking for a twist on the classic, check out pink velvet cupcakes. In contrast to the subtle chocolate flavor of traditional red velvet cupcakes, these vanilla-flavored treats from blogger Baked by Rachel get their soft pink hue from Americolor “dusty rose” food coloring.

The pastel hue makes them perfect to serve at a variety of spring occasions, from Easter to baby and wedding showers to graduation parties. They’re topped with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles or any other decor of your choosing. Rachel, the blogger behind the recipe, added some adorable heart-shaped sprinkles to hers. Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but there’s never a wrong time to surprise your loved ones with a sweet treat!

Another take on these perfectly pink cupcakes comes from Living Sweet Moments. The blogger, Tiffany, says they made perfect classroom treats for her daughters’ school Valentine’s Day party. These are also topped with fluffy cream cheese frosting.

To personalize them, she had her kids write each of their classmates’ names on a pretty paper wrapper. How thoughtful! She also suggests topping these pastel cupcakes with mini-crowns to serve at a princess-themed party.

Looking for more delicious pink desserts? Last year, scientists debuted a brand-new type of chocolate — and it’s pink! Dubbed “ruby chocolate,” it has a beautiful mauve hue. Made from the ruby cocoa bean, it also has a bit of a fruity flavor. I can see this making for some seriously beautiful fondue!

If you want to nab your sweet pink treat at the store (no cooking required!), pick up some of this glittery, pink Caticorn Cereal from Kellogg’s, which just recently debuted at Sam’s Club.
