Planters’ beloved Cheez Balls are coming back for a limited time

Wearing fanny packs, playing with a Tamagotchi and watching new episodes of “Murphy Brown” are all things you can do without being considered lame  in 2018. So, why not pop open a canister of Cheez Balls while you’re at it?

After online petitions and letter-writing campaigns from frustrated fans, Planters has decided to bring back Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls for the first time in 12 years. The beloved 1990s snack will be back on store shelves for a limited time starting in July.

“We heard many impassioned pleas for us to bring Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls back over the years and we wanted to give our fans a chance to reunite with their most-missed cheesy snack,” said Planters spokesperson Melanie Huet in a press release this week.

“We made sure our Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls still have the same delicious taste, airy texture and fluorescent color you know and love, so our fans can enjoy a nostalgic trip down memory lane with every canister,” she continued.

Cheez Balls were discontinued in 2006 and have since appeared in online lists of “Snacks You’ll Never Eat Again.” Planters proved the doubters wrong by making just 59 canisters of Cheez Balls available on online auction and e-commerce sites. Earlier this month, one of the lucky buyers got his can, plus a note hand-signed by Mr. Peanut himself.

It’s so awesome when your heroes turn out to be good people (or peanuts)!

According to Planters, Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls will be sold in 2.75-ounce and 4-ounce canisters, respectively, for $1.99 each. The nostalgic snacks will be sold in stores and online starting on July 1, but the company did not give a specific end date for its limited-time offering.

So, it’s best to stock up now just to be safe!
