You Can Now Play In Scrooge McDuck’s Money Pit

“A day without looking at me Money Bin is like a day without sunshine!” – Scrooge McDuck

If this quote seems familiar to you, then you probably loved “DuckTales,” which followed the adventures of the obscenely rich mallard Scrooge McDuck, his nephew Donald, and his rascally grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. And if you loved “DuckTales,” then you’re going to love the chance to actually swim in the famous Money Bin itself!

Any “DuckTales” fan worth their weight in gold remembers that Scrooge’s pool at his mansion wasn’t full of water, but gold coins. In fact, Forbes declared Scrooge #1 on their “Fictional 15” list in 2011. Forbes estimated Scrooge’s fortune to be about $44.1 billion, which means that’s a lot of gold coins to swim through.

And who watched this show without wanting to test a dip in the gold themselves? No one, that’s who.

In honor of the reboot of the classic TV series that will debut on Disney XD later this summer, Disney has recreated a life-size version of the famous Money Bin. The pool is stuffed with a whopping 30,000 plastic pucks made to look like Scrooge’s fortune.

The gold-filled pool debuted last week at the Radio Disney Music Awards, where guests and Disney stars alike had a blast jumping off the diving board and into the coin-filled pool.

Next, the Money Bin is headed to the Disney D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center this July, and let’s just say, people are pumped!

The “DuckTales” reboot will star all of the classic characters, as well as a more permanent role for Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack, the granddaughter of Scrooge’s maid, Mrs. Beakley. The new version of the show will also feature characters from the 1987 classic, including butler-chauffeur Duckworth, inventor Gyro Gearloose (who is a chicken), and sorceress Magica De Spell.

So, are you booking a ticket to Anaheim right away? Or will you be content to sit back on your couch and watch the feather-filled reboot from home? Personally, I don’t know if I could pass up the chance to swim around in money—who knows when you’ll get another chance!
