The most popular listing on Airbnb might just surprise you

Airbnb

Airbnb affords those who are looking for an adventure the option to stay in everything from catacombs in Paris to a medieval castle in Ireland. So it might come as a surprise that the company’s most popular listing isn’t either one of those things…or anything quite like them in terms of exotic locale or historical significance.

Nope. Instead, the most sought-after Airbnb listing is for a secluded tree house that sits in an Atlanta, Georgia backyard, of all places.

Airbnb

This one listing alone brings in over 300,000 site visits to AirBnb each month, and has been saved to over 147,000 “wish lists,” which are created by users on Airbnb’s website.

What Makes It So Special?

The Secluded Intown Treehouse actually consists of three separate rooms: a deck, a living room and a bedroom. And each room boasts its own theme. One room is aimed to focus on the mind, the second on the spirit and the third room on the body. Wraparound walkways and rope bridges connect them all.

Steeped in environmentalism for decades, Peter Bahouth said he built the tree house 18 years ago,  but it wasn’t until he was introduced to Airbnb that he even considered renting it out.

Airbnb

“I didn’t really know how I would feel about having people stay out here,” Bahouth told Today. “But I began to realize that people were having these amazing, great experiences and it was meaningful [to them], and it therefore became meaningful for me.”

Bahouth says that the experience of building and sharing the tree house has changed him, and he hopes that it does the same for everyone who stays in them, too.

“People come here and they write and they think,” Bahouth said. “They leave great stories and they have things happen to them here. Sometimes, they leave after two days and they just look different—they look like they just needed to simmer down a little.”

The cost for a one-night stay in the Secluded Intown Treehouse will set you back $375. And if you’re interested, you might want to book now for 2018, because there’s about a year of wait time for this unique and now-famous Airbnb listing. Hop to it!
