This pregnant dog had a baby shower and the photos went viral (understandably!)

Who doesn’t love a good baby shower? Gathering together to eat food, open presents and celebrate the coming of new life is a time-honored tradition here in the United States.

Gisselle O. Suarez, owner of pregnant dog Winter, thought her dog should get in on the happiness. So she threw her a seriously aww-worthy baby shower….and the internet is absolutely loving it.

Twitter went crazy after Suarez shared three photos of Winter absolutely loving life at her baby shower.

As you can see, the tutu-wearing dog (who looks to be a pitbull or pitbull mix) is enjoying gifts and food on the beach, presumably with her human family. Users were overwhelmed by the cuteness of the photos, as you can see:

The original tweet has been retweeted over 54,000 times and favorited over 150,000 times. That’s a lot of love for this doggie mama-to-be!

Still, Suarez herself experienced some pushback from social media users who urged her to consider the importance of spaying and neutering pets to control overpopulation of dogs in the U.S. Sadly, according to the Humane Society, about 2.4 million healthy cats and dogs are put down in U.S. shelters each year. That’s one every 13 seconds. PETA says that just one unspayed dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in just six years.

Suarez didn’t provide any information on why she chose not to spay Winter, but from the looks of the adorable baby shower, this mama dog and her pups will be very well taken care of in the future.

There’s no word yet on when we can expect Winter’s puppies to be born . But if you want to know how everything works out for Winter, follow Suarez—she also tweeted that she’s planning a “welcoming” party for the pups.

We’re definitely looking forward to more photos once Winter becomes a mom. Here’s hoping for some shots of tiny tutus on tiny puppies!
