Pregnant Meghan Markle is glowing as she arrives in New York for her baby shower

Meghan Markle flew to the United States this week for a very special reason. The royal mama-to-be was spotted in New York City, where friends threw her a baby shower on Feb. 20.

People reported that some of her closest friends were in attendance, including Serena WilliamsPriyanka Chopra, Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer.

The Duchess of Sussex was spotted leaving the Mark Hotel, where she stayed and where the baby shower was held on Feb. 20.

As she left the hotel to go to lunch with fellow “Suits” star Spencer the day before her shower, she couldn’t have looked more radiant. She was dressed in a chic head-to-toe black ensemble and was wearing a big smile while holding her baby bump.

Flowers that were believed to be for Markle’s shower were photographed as they were carted into the hotel, proving that this shower will be just as fancy and full of gorgeous flowers as Markle’s wedding day. Because you’ve got to pull out all of the stops for Baby Sussex, after all!

Harper’s Bazaar reports that Serena Williams and Markle’s longtime friend from college, Genevieve Hillis, hosted the shower. Several famous faces were in attendance, including Gayle King and Amal Clooney, who attended Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding last May with her husband, George.

This isn’t the first time Markle has traveled while pregnant. In fact, just after announcing the pregnancy, she and Prince Harry set off on their tour across Australia and New Zealand. The couple has also attended award ceremonies, theatres and events for charities close to their hearts, giving fans plenty of opportunities to marvel at Markle’s growing baby bump and maternity fashion all the while.

While the only official word from the palace is the baby is due in spring of 2019, Markle has hinted that the due date is sometime around April. An editor for Hello! tweeted the news after Markle greeted well-wishers in Birkenhead:

According to the Baby Center, baby showers typically take place one to two months before the baby is due, but there are no rules around when you can and can’t have a baby shower. Especially since Markle is no longer living in the United States, this shower could be happening in advance just so she doesn’t have to travel too close to her due date. Nevertheless, the arrival of the baby is getting closer and closer!

Prince Harry did not accompany his wife on the trip and was serving meals at a youth center when photographs of Markle in New York began appearing.

It’s an exciting time for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and the royal baby watch is most definitely underway. Any bets on the royal baby name?
