It was previously announced by Kensington Palace that Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, would walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. But after her father was met with some health complications, the bride-to-be released a statement confirming that her father would no longer be able to attend her wedding — much less walk beside her during the ceremony.
So, we had to wonder: Who would escort Markle down the aisle to her prince?
On May 18 — just one day before the royal wedding is to take place — Kensington Palace answered this burning question. Prince Charles will escort his future daughter-in-law down the aisle.
The Kensington Palace official Twitter account tweeted the news:
“Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St. George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day,” the statement read. “The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”

There have been no other announcements of changes in the plans for the royal wedding. So, that means Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, will still ride in the car with her daughter on the way to the chapel where Markle will marry Prince Harry.
Meghan and Prince Harry will also honor Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, in a very touching way:
Prince Harry and Markle will also have 10 adorable bridesmaids and page boys by their side on the big day. Some of the children of their closest friends and family have been chosen to hold the prestigious roles.
With the royal wedding just one day away, the excitement is building! Will you be tuning in to watch the event live?
