Since they announced their engagement, all eyes have been on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The glamorous couple stepped out for their first official royal engagement of the new year on Jan. 9 when they visited the studios of 107.3 FM, a youth-led radio station that supports young adults through radio and broadcast training.

Here they are arriving at the radio station, as the crowd cheers and shouts well wishes:

When Markle turns to wave at them, the crowd goes wild!

Inside, the couple met with a number of staff and learned about their efforts to teach youth media skills. Founded in 2011, the organization is the U.K.’s only radio station presented by young people. Prestigious media companies often hire young talent from the station.

“We continue to campaign on a range of issues affecting young people; whether its domestic violence, unemployment or global current affairs, always providing a relevant platform for young Britain to be heard,” according to 107.3 FM’s website.

The station is located in Brixton, a diverse south London neighborhood. Daniel Solomon runs a health and wellness shop in the area and was one of many fans who turned up hoping to get a glimpse of the high-profile couple.

“Times are changing,” Solomon told the Washington Post. “She’s mixed-race. Obviously, that doesn’t happen often in the royal family. It’s a good thing. That marriage supersedes the concept of royalty.”

After the announcement of the engagement, Markle said she was excited to take on the role of royal wife because of the opportunity to focus entirely on philanthropy and charity.

The couple recently released their engagement photos, which are absolutely stunning:

“What’s been really exciting, as we talk about this as the transition out of my career… is that the causes that have been very important to me, I can focus even more energy on,” she told the BBC.
