Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reveal Their Wedding Date

Royal wedding news! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially set a date for their wedding, and they don’t have much time to plan!

Kensington Palace announced the couple’s wedding date on Friday and they will wed at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

This historic chapel was built in the 14th century under King Edward III’s rule, and since then, it has been home to many important weddings, funerals and christenings, as well as other important royal ceremonies.

It was here that the Prince of Wales (Prince Harry’s dad) received a blessing from the Archbishop of Canterbury for his union to Camilla Parker Bowles. However, it has not been the home of a royal wedding since 2008, since the wedding of Autumn Kelly and Peter Phillips (who is the Queen’s eldest grandchild).

Kensington Palace spokesman Jason Knauf says, “Windsor is a very special place for Prince Harry, and he and Ms. Markle have regularly spent time there during the last year. They are delighted that the beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle will be where they begin their lives as a married couple.”

As you might notice, the date of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was chosen very carefully. The date: May 19, 2018, so get your DVRs ready! To be specific, it is one month after the Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to her and Prince William’s third child.

In other words, Prince Harry wants to be sure that his big bro and his sister-in-law can make it to the big event. I wonder if they will bring the wee one to the wedding, or leave a nanny in charge … and I wonder if Prince George and Princess Charlotte will get to play a role in the nuptials? They would be the cutest flower girl and ring-bearer ever!

So, how did these two lovebirds meet exactly?

In a Vanity Fair profile published in October, Markle said she and Prince Harry met through mutual friends in July 2016. The couple were able to keep their relationship a secret from the media for several months before it became publicly known.

During a photo call with press after announcing their engagement, Harry said he knew his fiancée was the one “from the very first time we met.” Awwww.

Since 2011, Markle has starred as Rachel Zane on the USA Network show “Suits” and lived in Toronto, where the show films. She recently announced that she would be leaving the show after seven seasons, which sparked rumors of an impending engagement between her and Prince Harry.

Until last year, Markle also ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig, which mainly covered food and travel—her two passions. She named the blog after her favorite wine, Tignanello. She’s a self-professed foodie and isn’t afraid to post photos of herself on Instagram enjoying food with pals or a glass of wine. Our kind of girl!

Markle and Prince Harry very sweetly share a commitment to using their privileged positions to make the world a better place. In 2016, Markle visited a school in Rwanda with the organization WorldVision, where she taught students how to paint with watercolors.

Earlier this year, Markle visited India with WorldVision to learn more about bringing latrines to girls’ schools.

Markle is also an advocate for UN Women, which involved shadowing a senior advisor to the organization, according to the BBC.
