Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Wedding Will Be On TV, Date Announced Next Week

It’s been a busy week for Britain’s Prince Harry and his now-fiancée Meghan Markle.

After announcing their engagement on Monday, the couple later revealed they will be getting married in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

And now comes the news we’ve all been waiting for: Not only are there talks that the couple will announce an official date next week, but we also have an answer to our most important question—we get to watch this on TV, right?!

While some reports say the couple plan to marry on May 26 during Memorial Day weekend next year, royal commentators have not confirmed the date. According to TMZ, the official date will be released next week.

But while we don’t quite know when it will happen, a spokesperson has revealed that yes, the wedding will be televised for all of us to watch!

“The couple of course wants the day to be a special, celebratory moment for their friends and family,” the spokesperson said, according to Brides. “They also want the day to be shaped so as to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations too and are currently working through ideas for how this might be achieved.”

The British prince and American actress met on a blind date in July 2016 through a mutual friend and were able to keep their relationship secret for several months. They are both deeply involved in philanthropy and Harry said he knew his fiancée was the one “from the very first time we met.”

“I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw, there she was sitting there,” Harry told BBC’s Mishal Husain, speaking of when he and Markle met. “I thought, ‘Oh, I’m really going to have to up my game,’ sit down and make sure I’ve got a good chat.”

After dating for more than a year, the British royal family announced the couple’s engagement on Nov. 27, with Kensington Palace posting a video of the couple speaking about the news.

Telling the story of their engagement, the couple revealed they had been cooking dinner at home when Prince Harry proposed.

“It was so sweet and natural and very romantic,” Markle said. “I could barely let you finish proposing—’Can I say yes now?’”

Added Prince Harry, “I had the ring in my finger and I said ‘Can I give you the ring?’ and she said, ‘Oh yes, the ring!’”

Oh, and about that ring? Prince Harry designed it himself: yellow gold, a larger diamond is sourced from Botswana, and two smaller diamonds that belonged to his mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, “to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” Harry said.

Along with wedding plans, Markle—who recently quit her role on the TV show “Suits” after seven seasons of filming—will be busy in the coming months converting to the Church of England and beginning the steps toward British citizenship.
