Prince Louis’ birth certificate shows William and Kate’s surprisingly obvious job titles
Being a monarch is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
This week, just days after the world met Britain’s newborn Prince Louis for the first time, the young royal’s birth certificate was released — and it contained some interesting details.
There was all the basic stuff, like where he was born (St. Mary’s Hospital in Westminster), when (April 23, 2018) and his full name (His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge).
But the birth certificate also listed the official occupational titles of Louis’ parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Wait, Kate And William Actually Have Official Occupations?
What could their jobs be, you ask? According to the form, William’s official occupation is simply listed as “Prince of the United Kingdom,” while Kate’s is listed as “Princess of the United Kingdom.”
Those aren’t bad gigs if you can get them!
Another interesting thing about the birth certificate, which is signed by William, is that it differs from those of Louis’ older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, in a striking way. The information in his is typed while every answer in the previous two was handwritten.
Opting for the lazy method when it comes to the third child … typical! (Well, that or perhaps the arm of government that manages British birth certificates finally upgraded to an electronic system? Hard to say.)
Congrats to the royal family on its newest addition! In just a couple weeks they’ll be adding yet another member to the family when Prince Harry’s fiancée Meghan Markle adds “Princess” — or “Duchess,” to be sure — to her own job title.

Some royal-watchers are placing their money on a gown from Ralph & Russo, the London-based label that designed the stunning gown Markle wore for her and Prince Harry’s engagement photos.

Others have suggested Roland Mouret, a French designer based on London. His clean lines, fabric choices and impeccable tailoring all seem up Markle’s alley.

Others are betting it will be a gown from a tried-and-true British designer like Stella McCartney (yes, daughter of Sir Paul, does it get more authentically British than that?). Markle actually wore one of her designs on a recent outing to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.

McCartney’s been showing big sleeves lately. Is it possible Markle would wear a gown with a modern version of puffy sleeves as a nod to Princess Diana?
