The time has come for Prince Louis to be christened, marking the first public outing since he was born in April. So, it’s a very special day, indeed.

Ahead of the service, the royal palace officially announced those who are to be named the godparents of the third child of Prince William and Kate Middleton. A total of six names made the list.

Prince Louis’s godparents are Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, Lady Laura Meade, “Mrs. Robert Carter” (Hannah Gillingham) and Lucy Middleton.

The list, much like that of Princess Charlotte’s godparents, is comprised of close friends and relatives of the couple. In fact, aside from Lucy Middleton — the Duchess of Cambridge’s cousin — the remaining five people are close friends of the royal couple, some since childhood.

As the prince’s godparents, these individuals will be expected to showcase a Christian way of life and act as a role model for Prince Louis.

The parents only named a total of five godparents for their daughter, and none of the godparents are members of the royal family. With Prince George, the oldest of their children, the parents took a more formal approach, naming seven godparents and including a member of the royal family in the mix.

According to the palace’s press release, members of Middleton’s family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Prince Charles and Camilla will attend the christening, along with the godparents and their spouses. A palace tweet confirmed their arrival:

In keeping with tradition, Prince Louis will wear a white gown and be christened with the Lily Font, a special silver piece reserved for royal baptism, just as Prince George and Princess Charlotte before him.

Once the christening service is over, guests will be served tea and christening cake, which is a tier from Prince William and Middleton’s wedding cake. There were originally eight tiers of cake.

It’s a happy day for the family of five as they celebrate another baptism. And we’re just hoping there will be plenty of photos!
