Princess Beatrice Is Pregnant With Her First Child

The British royal family will soon welcome a new addition. The Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Beatrice, is having a baby.

The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Beatrice married property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at a private ceremony in Windsor in 2020 after dating him for two years.

Although this is the princess’s first child, Mozzi has a son from a previous relationship. Beatrice called becoming a stepmother a “great honor.” Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi, affectionately known as “Wolfie,” was born in 2016. Beatrice’s stepson served as the best man and as a pageboy at the couple’s July wedding.

The Royal Family announced the happy news on Twitter with a photo of the couple on their wedding day.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year,” tweeted the family’s official account. “The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”

Beatrice’s younger sister Eugenie welcomed her first child earlier this year. Her son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, was born on February 9, 2021. Princess Eugenie has stated that she and her husband named the baby for his great-grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away in April, as well as two of his five-times great-grandfathers. The princesses’ first cousin, Zara Tindall, 39, welcomed another royal baby into the family this year, as well. Her third child was born in March.

Princess Beatrice is the fifth of Queen Elizabeth’s eight grandchildren. She is ninth in line to the British throne. There are currently 10 great-grandchildren; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting a daughter this summer, so Beatrice’s bundle will become the Queen’s twelfth great-grandchild. The baby will become eleventh in line to the throne when it is born.

The baby’s due date and sex have not yet been announced.
