Princess Diana will be honored at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in a touching way

It’s heartbreaking to think Prince Harry will be without his mother on his wedding day. The late Princess Diana will definitely be there in spirit, however, as the prince is making an effort to ensure she is included in the May 19 celebrations.

Her Siblings Will Be In The Pews

According to a press release from the palace, Princess Diana’s siblings will attend the wedding and her sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, will share a reading:

“All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes [pictured below] will give the reading. Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honored that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day.”

Princess Diana had three siblings: Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 63; Fellowes, 61; and brother, Charles Spencer, 53. (A fourth sibling, John, died as a newborn a year before Diana’s birth.)

Meghan’s Engagement Ring Has Diamonds From Diana’s Collection

This isn’t the only way Prince Harry has chosen to make his mom a part of his and Meghan Markle’s story, either. He specifically chose to use diamonds from his mother’s personal collection when he was creating an engagement ring for his future fiancée.

“I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness and the inclusion of [his mom’s diamonds] — and obviously, not being able to meet his mom — it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us,” Markle about her engagement ring in an interview with BBC.

There In Spirit

Princess Diana may not have ever gotten the chance to meet her son’s love, but Prince Harry feels certain that she and Markle would have gotten along splendidly.

“They’d be thick as thieves, without question,” he said in the BBC interview. “I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know, so excited for me [to be engaged]. But, they probably would’ve been best friends.”

Not surprisingly, Markle has already drawn comparisons to the late princess due to their similar personalities and warmth towards others.

The couple said they know “she’s with [them]” on this journey — and now Princess Diana will be honored in a special way on their big day, too. How truly touching!

What About The Dress And Tiara?

Royal watchers are waiting with bated breath to see the wedding dress Markle will wear down the aisle on her and Prince Harry’s big day.

The tiara Princess Diana wore on her wedding day was from her Spencer family’s collection, and it would be available for Markle to wear, if she chose to. (One tiara she definitely won’t be wearing is the Cartier Halo that Kate Middleton wore on her wedding day.)

As for her dress, some are placing their money on a gown from Ralph & Russo, the London-based label that designed the stunning number Markle wore for her and Prince Harry’s engagement photos.

Others have suggested Roland Mouret, a French designer based on London. His clean lines, fabric choices and impeccable tailoring all seem up Markle’s alley.

Others are betting it will be a gown from a tried-and-true British designer like Stella McCartney (yes, daughter of Sir Paul, does it get more authentically British than that?). Markle actually wore one of her designs on a recent outing to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.
