Jonathan and Drew Scott weren’t always the successful (and uncommonly good looking) real estate duo you’ve come to know and love in the HGTV show “Property Brothers.”

In fact, the journey to TV stardom was a long and difficult one, and the Scott twins are finally opening up about all of their failures and successes along the way in their new book, “It Takes Two: Our Story, “which published Sept. 5.

In an exclusive interview with People, the brothers gave a little sneak peek of what’s in their memoir, and it seems like they aren’t afraid to discuss the good and the bad times they’ve shared.

“We didn’t want to cut anything out of the book,” Jonathan told the magazine. “We talk about all the highs and all the lows.”

According to their accounts, these brothers had dreams of being in the limelight well before they ever made their TV debut.

Before becoming HGTV’s most recognizable faces, the brothers left behind their real estate jobs to pursue their passions, which for Drew was acting and for Jonathan was becoming a magician.

But when Jonathan’s props got stolen and Drew’s pursuit of acting wasn’t panning out, they realized something had to change.

“It really turned out to be a game-changer for us, because we realized how any reckless decision you make can leave you vulnerable,” Drew said.

Despite costing him thousands, Drew’s focus on the acting craft is what ultimately lead to the hit TV show, “Property Brothers.”

“In the end, that experience was really important because it created the buzz for our first auditions,” he told the publication, “which got us on TV and made it worth it.”

According to the book’s description, the book also discusses how their upbringing in a tight-knit family in Canada informed their career—because these brothers really are quite the entertaining pair, and they always have been.

“Complete with hilarious behind-the-scenes stories from set, Jonathan and Drew discuss how their family and upbringing have led to their success in life. Throughout, the brothers keep fans laughing with the clever—and sometimes zany—sibling banter for which they’re known best,” the description reads.

The book is on Amazon for $17.70.

If you’re a fan of these twins, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on a copy.

The brothers not only share about their past, they even share their hopes for the future.

Spoiler alert: They’re ready for babies!

“Of all the success and everything we’ve achieved, I think I’ll be a great dad,” Jonathan gushed to the magazine. “That’s going to be exciting.”

Exciting, indeed. Get ready for a great read.
