These pumpkin cookies with browned butter frosting are the perfect sweet treat for fall

It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to a close, but the days are definitely cooling and autumn is almost upon us. Although it’s sad to mourn the loss of warmer temperatures and all the fun the summer season brings, fall offers a lot to love as well. Case in point? All the yummy fall treats that are popular this time of year — especially pumpkin-flavored everything.

These pumpkin cookies with browned butter frosting from Betty Crocker are the ideal snack to indulge in this autumn. The recipe utilizes real canned pumpkin for plenty of fall-forward flavor, and the browned butter frosting is the perfect complement. Be sure to use real butter. If you use margarine or spread, your cookies will burn.

These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are sure to be a hit at a Halloween party or any of your fall gatherings. The recipe has a solid 4.5-star rating with 151 reviews. Just be sure to let the cookies cool completely before adding the frosting.

To add a little extra kick, you can add 1/8 teaspoon each of ground gloves and ground ginger to the dry ingredients. You can also garnish the frosting with a sprinkle of cinnamon. A tasty shortcut is to use Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy dulce de leche frosting in lieu of making your own browned butter frosting.

“I did not make the brown butter frosting but used a cream cheese frosting to make sandwich cookies,” reads one review.

That’s a genius idea as well!

Looking for a way to sneak some veggies into your sweets? Check out these squash blossoms, made with a half cup of squash. No one will ever know, though, as they’re also packed with pumpkin pie spice, marshmallow creme and brown sugar.

The recipe suggests topping them with Betty Crocker vanilla ready-to-spread frosting. These deceptively nutritious cookies take just 20 minutes of prep work and are ready in an hour total. Serve them as an after-school snack to trick your kids into eating their veggies!
