Pumpkin spice cheese exists and it’s proven to be quite polarizing

It’s pumpkin spice’s world and we’re just living in it.

In today’s fall-obsessed society where every Instagram taken during the month of October depicts artful-looking foliage, pumpkin patches or #sweaterweather outfits, can we really say we’re surprised when yet another outrageous pumpkin spice-flavored item pops up?

Well, yes and no. Is it surprising that in addition to delicacies like pumpkin spice jello, truffles, bagels, whipped cream, wine, Pop-Tarts and butter, we now have pumpkin spice cheese? No.

Is it surprising that a cheese company called Beemster thought it would be a good idea to combine the flavors of cheese and pumpkin spice together? A little.

According to the Beemster website, this limited-time speciality cheese’s “irresistible blend of pumpkin spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and ginger, are blended right into our mild, young Gouda to infuse it with aromatic, fragrant fall flavor.”

Aged one month, it’s a semi-soft cheese that is recommended to be served grilled with ham or alongside a raisin-nut bread, or with Malbec, Chardonnay or a cider.

According to PopSugar, it can be found at Costco stores in Canada. A search of the Costco website in the U.S. found it to not be available here yet. So your best bet for getting some pumpkin spice cheese on your plate might be to search Beemster’s store locator and call your local grocery up to ask about it directly.

A Polarizing Cheese

Pumpkin spice cheese has been making the rounds on social media, with many people voicing some pretty strong opinions on the matter.

Curious as to what it might taste like? Well, Instagram is pretty divided as to whether it’s actually good or not, but some users are certainly more positive than others. Some people simply couldn’t resist buying it for its fun fall appeal, like Instagram user @mommykare who opted to include this cheese in her Thanksgiving spread:

Some users were more skeptical:

Apparently, this cheese also goes well with beer and apple tarts!

At the end of the day, it seems like a very polarizing cheese!
