Season two of the hit show “Big Little Lies” debuted on HBO on June 9, and the cast recently celebrated at the premiere at Lincoln Center in New York City. Stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Shailene Woodley, and the rest of the stellar cast came to the May 29 premiere looking absolutely amazing.

Witherspoon’s daughter, Ava Phillippe, even showed up to support her mom — and their resemblance as they posed smiling side-by-side on the red carpet definitely did not go unnoticed.

The 19-year-old couldn’t have been prouder to stand alongside her mom, either. She took to Instagram to congratulate Witherspoon on a second season of the show.

“So especially proud of my mama and her passion for this story and her work. After seeing just the first episode, I honestly cannot wait to see more,” she captioned a photo of the two of them posing together on their “Big Little Date Night”:

As you can see, the resemblance is uncanny, and the mother-daughter duo have long resembled each other. When Witherspoon received her star on the Walk of Fame in 2010, for example, Ava was just 10 years old and already looked like a mini-me:

Just in case you need more proof that these two are practically twins and BFFs, there are some more images of the two of them smiling and laughing together at the “Big Little Lies” premiere.

They totally nailed the hand-on-hip pose:

And this one really captures their matching megawatt smiles:

The mom and daughter are undeniably close, and Witherspoon’s been open about just how hard it was to see her daughter go off to college.

“It’s weird when your children go away to college,” the actress told Ellen DeGeneres during an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “It’s hard. I never imagined how it felt for my mom. I might have gone into her empty room, laid down on her bed and cried when she went to college.”

Witherspoon did point out that her daughter still comes home to visit: “It’s OK, she’s coming back. I thought she would be gone.”

You can see a clip from the interview in this video from the show’s YouTube channel:

The 19-year-old is the daughter of Witherspoon and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. The couple also share a 15-year-old son, Deacon. (Witherspoon also has a 6-year-old son, Tennessee, with her husband, talent agent Jim Toth,)

Phillippe confessed that he does find it a little odd that people are so surprised by his children’s resemblance to their parents.

“Who else are they going to look like, you know,” he said in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” “I always find that such a weird thing, like, [Ava] looks exactly like her mother. Who else is she going to look like? It’s an odd thing that people fixate on that.”

Hey, he has a point.

Nevertheless, there’s no denying that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree — and what a beautiful woman Ava is growing up to be!
