Zac Efron is set to star in a remake of “Three Men and a Baby.” The original film premiered in 1987 and starred Ted Danson, Steve Guttenberg and Tom Selleck as a group of New York City bachelors who end up caring for a baby that is left on their doorstep. The hit comedy was based on a 1985 French film.
The new remake will premiere on Disney+ and will be produced by Gordon Gray (“The Rookie,” “The Way Back”). The script was written by Will Reichel (“Hot Air”), and a director has not yet been announced.
So far, details about how the plot of the new movie may be updated are scarce, and there’s no info yet on who will play the other two bachelors. “Three Men and a Baby” was followed by a 1990 sequel, “Three Men and a Little Lady.”
Efron’s breakout role was in Disney’s “High School Musical” TV movies, which premiered between 2006 and 2008. He went on to act in a number of feature films, including “Hairspray,” “17 Again,” “Dirty Grandpa” and “The Greatest Showman.”
This is not the first time Efron has starred in a remake of a classic throwback. In 2017, he starred in “Baywatch,” a feature film based on the hit TV series of the same name that originally ran from 1989 to 1999.
To get in tip-top shape to play a lifeguard in that movie, Efron revamped his diet and followed an intense exercise regime, something the actor says he’s not eager to do again.
Most recently, Efron produced and starred in his own Netflix travel show, “Down to Earth with Zac Efron.” The series follows the actor as he travels the world with wellness expert Darin Olien exploring healthy and sustainable ways of life.
He also starred in “Killing Zac Efron” on Quibi, in which he tried to survive in the jungles of New Guinea.
After all that, starring in a movie about caring for a baby with two other men should be a piece of cake!
