People think this rescue cat looks just like Baby Yoda

Disney+

It seems like everywhere we turn, the adorable little Baby Yoda is there. The breakout star of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” is not only strong with The Force, but also in cuteness, and considering how thoroughly The Child (as he’s known on the show) has captured our hearts, it’s no surprise that we’re seeing Baby Yodas in unexpected places — including the long, sideways-leaning ears of a rescue cat.

In a recent Facebook post, the Humane Society of Rowan County, North Carolina, reached out to social media to help raise money for Joy, a cat who is recovering from injuries and hopes to find her forever home after she recovers. Followers of the group’s Facebook page couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the tuxie kitty and a certain adorable character on “The Mandalorian.”

“Many on social media have dubbed her Yoda Cat because some see a striking resemblance to Yoda from Star Wars,” the Humane Society wrote on the post, along with some pictures of the sweet black-and-white girl. “Joy is one of the many injured strays that our organization helps… Joy had a wound around her neck and an upper respiratory infection. She is currently receiving treatment for both. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her. Joy will not be available for adoption for some time. If you wish to donate toward her medical bills, we welcome any assistance. Any amount above what is needed for Joy’s medical needs will go to help other injured strays like her.”

It seems Yoda Cat’s resemblance to Baby Yoda is going to help her recovery — as well as another shelter pet‘s. The Humane Society set up an online fundraiser with a $700 goal for Joy’s medical care, and within a few days, followers had committed more than $1,100.

Workers helping to take care of Joy told CNN the cat is recovering, and they think her poor treatment before her rescue has not affected her love of people.

“She’s very cuddly, she’s very affectionate, and she’s very sweet,” Humane Society board member Nancy Rominger told CNN. “Her experiences have not made her into an attack cat. She seems to like people and loves being in laps. She’s going to make someone a very nice pet.”

Good luck to Joy and the other pets at the Humane Society who need forever homes!
