Richard Gere And His Wife Welcomed A Baby Boy

Richard Gere is a dad again.

A representative for the 69-year-old actor confirmed to CNN on Feb. 11 that Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, 35, have welcomed a baby boy.

Though the famous couple have kept details about the birth private, they have revealed the name of their new baby boy. According to Hola! magazine, the couple have opted for a more traditional moniker for their son, landing on the name Alexander.

This is the first child for the couple but they both have children from previous relationships. Gere has a 19-year-old son from his marriage to Carey Lowell, and Silva has a son with her ex-husband, Govind Friedland.

Gere and Silva tied the knot last year after dating since 2015, shortly after she finalized her divorce.  “I feel like I’m in a true fairytale,” the bride told Hello! Magazine, which also printed exclusive photos of the couple’s wedding on Gere’s ranch outside of New York City. “Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world.”

Silva is originally from Spain. Her father is Ignacio Silva, the former vice president of the Real Madrid Football Club.

The couple confirmed their baby news last September, when Silva shared a snap of the Dalai Lama putting his hand on her growing baby bump. “Just a few moments ago… Getting blessings for our precious to come…” she captioned the photo on Instagram at the time, according to Page Six. “We couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama☺️.”

Silva has since continued to document her pregnancy on Instagram. She previously posted a photo of her showing off her bump in a black dress.

In the bilingual caption of the photo, she expressed her excitement over her baby news, writing, “¡Soy muy feliz! ❤️ … I’m so happy! #happygirl.”

Gere was also previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford, from 1991 to 1995.
