Actor and singer Ricky Martin brought a very special guest with him to the Grammys last night: his 10-year-old son, Matteo. The duo looked super-stylish and adorable as they walked the red carpet in chic, matching all-black outfits.

Martin opened the ceremony in a performance with Camila Cabello, J Balvin, Arturo Sandoval and Young Thug, but the pro didn’t look the least bit nervous as he posed for the cameras with his son. Check out their happy smiles as they hold hands in the shot below.

Together with his husband, Jwan Yosef, Martin is also to dad to Matteo’s twin brother, Valentino, and 1-month-old daughter, Lucia.

“I haven’t slept for 15 days,” Martin joked to Entertainment Tonight about life with a new baby last month at the Golden Globes. “Nobody sleeps in the house, it’s really cool. It’s insane but it’s beautiful. I’m so happy.”

In addition to surprising fans with his date choice at the awards show, he also debuted a new facial hair look. He rocked a retro mustache paired with a small soul patch, and people on social media were divided as to whether the style suited the star.

Journalist Heidi Moore took to Twitter to liken the look to something more at home in the 1980s:

“Ricky Martin is all of my uncles circa 1983,” she wrote.

Controversial facial hair aside, it was a big night for Martin, as it marked 20 years since his breakthrough performance of “The Cup of Life”  during the 41st Grammy Awards in 1999.

“Ricky Martin’s performance on the Grammys doing ‘La Copa de la Vida’ lit the fuse to the Latin explosion,” Tommy Mottola, the chief of Martin’s then-record label, Columbia, told Billboard of the historic performance. “It took a relatively unknown artist in the Anglo market and propelled him to global superstardom, literally overnight. We followed this by immediately releasing ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca,’ and sold over 20 million albums worldwide.”

Congratulations to Martin on all his success, and we’re so glad that he got to share this milestone with his son!
