There’s no question that pop superstar Rihanna has accomplished a lot. In 2015, the eight-time Grammy Award winner became the best-selling digital singles artist of all time.

That staggering stat means you’re probably already familiar with her music, but did you know the mega-successful entertainer also has her own cosmetics lineFenty Beauty—named after the 29-year-old singer’s last name—launched in September 2017, and made quite a splash right away, pulling in a whopping $72 million in just one month. The line even snagged a spot in Time Magazine’s list of the 25 Best Inventions of 2017.

What makes Fenty Beauty so groundbreaking in the cosmetics world is that it’s more than skin deep. For example, the company offers 40 different shades of foundation. Why so many? Rihanna told InStyle, “That was very important to me. I wanted everyone to feel included. We actually started with foundation because it’s the very first makeup product I fell in love with.”

Fenty’s website reads: “Rihanna was inspired to create Fenty Beauty after years of experimenting with the best-of-the-best in beauty—and still seeing a void in the industry for products that performed across all skin types and tones. She launched a makeup line ‘so that women everywhere would be included,’ focusing on a wide range of traditionally hard-to-match skin tones, creating formulas that work for all skin types, and pinpointing universal shades.”

And customers have responded with love. One man left a review on Fenty’s website on behalf of his wife, personally thanking Rihanna for creating a product that he says has helped his wife “regain some of her confidence and helped her with her reluctance to leave our home due to her skin imperfections.”

In his review of Fenty’s Pro Filt’r foundation, the man, named Darryl, explained that his wife suffers from cutaneous lupus erythematosus, which causes pigmentation variations and scarring. “NOTHING has worked as well as this Fenty foundation … I hope this message reaches Rihanna so she knows how much she is helping the love of my life get through the struggle of her affliction,” Darryl wrote, according to BuzzFeed.
