Salted Caramel Pepsi Is Here To Be Your New Favorite Soda
Let’s face it—we just can’t seem to get enough of weird food combinations.
A quesadilla stuffed with melted Kit Kats or Twix bars? Sure, why not. Buffalo wing-flavored Cheez-Its? Of course.
PepsiCo is taking note and adding some interesting flavors to their popular sodas. First came Pepsi Fire, a cinnamon-flavored version of the classic soda released in May.
Now, just in time for the holidays, they’re at it again with a soda full of salty caramel-y goodness.
Salted Caramel Pepsi is now on store shelves and is described by PepsiCo as “indulgent new, limited-time flavor which blends the refreshing taste of cola with a delicious caramel finish.”
We have to admit, we’re at least slightly intrigued, although we haven’t tasted it ourselves just yet. Some Today staffers did, however, and all reached one conclusion: It’s drinkable but not amazing.
“When I first learned that Pepsi Salted Caramel was a thing, my initial reaction was, ‘Yuck,'” said Today lifestyle news editor Shane Lou. “Pepsi Salted Caramel isn’t yucky. On the contrary, it’s not bad at all. The caramel flavor isn’t strong, but it’s apparent enough that it’ll give you a sweet aftertaste. If Pepsi is your cola of choice, it’s worth giving the salted caramel flavor a shot.”
The new flavor has divided Pepsi fans on the internet: Most think it sounds weird or sounds gross, but some who actually tried it were pleasantly surprised.
Love salted caramel but in Pepsi? That sounds awful.😝 pic.twitter.com/t5sG0UmWeg

This newest Pepsi flavor is actually just one of a slew of holiday drinks being released by PepsiCo, such as IZZE Cranberry Orange Spice, Mountain Dew Holiday Brew (which is a blend of green Mountain Dew and Mountain Dew Code Red) and Starbucks Peppermint Mocha Latte (the bottled, at-home version).
Snack-wise, check out Cheetos Snowflakes, which have a white cheddar taste and are snowflake-shaped.
Or Lay’s Wavy Dipped in Chocolate—yup, chocolate-dipped potato chips!

Oh, and if you’re looking for something perfect to eat with your Salted Caramel Pepsi? There are now Salty & Sweet Snickers, too.
And if you’re looking for an added caffeine boost on top of your Salted Caramel Pepsi, did you know that Jolt Cola is making a comeback?
The ’80s beverage is now available in single, 16-ounce cans for $1 at Dollar General stores across the country. It features the original thunderbolt logo and strip design that debuted with the cola more than 30 years ago.
Something else that hasn’t changed? The company does not hide the fact that Jolt is loaded with sugar and caffeine — 50 grams of sugar and 160 milligrams of caffeine! In comparison, a 12-ounce can of of Coca-Cola has 34 milligrams of caffeine, so Jolt is like drinking four-and-a-half cans. So be sure keep this one away from the kids; it is recommended for adults only.
