This man knits sweaters of famous landmarks and poses for pictures in front of them

Sam Barsky likes to knit, but he’s not your average hobbyist. Barsky’s speciality is sweaters—specifically sweaters that feature scenes from well-known landmarks and destinations throughout the world, such as the Eiffel Tower and Stonehenge.

Barsky then dons the sweaters and snaps photos of himself wearing the sweaters in front of the landmarks they represent. For example, here’s Barsky wearing a sweater he made depicting the New York skyline while standing in front of the actual New York skyline:

And here he is posing in front of Stonehenge in England, wearing a sweater that depicts the prehistoric monument:

Pretty clever! Barsky took up knitting back in 1999 after he dropped out of nursing school because of health issues. His quirky designs have earned him quite the following. His Facebook page has over 41,000 fans, and he has more than 6,000 followers on Instagram as well. Over the years, his work has appeared in a number of publications as well as in museum exhibits, including “Float” at the American Visionary Art Museum in 2004.

“I like creating something of my own that I can wear myself,” Barsky told the Baltimore Sun. “I feel like it’s my own work. I enjoy looking at the picture I’ve done, the scenery.”

We have to admit, his Eiffel Tower is pretty striking, even if he only made it to the replica in Las Vegas:

It’s not just famous places and scenery that end up on Barsky’s sweaters. He also pays homage to beloved characters, like this one featuring C-3PO from “Star Wars”:

He doesn’t let warm weather stop him from wearing his sweaters, either. Here he is in a tropical-themed sweater on a trip to the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa:

He even makes holiday-themed sweaters, like this one featuring a menorah for Hanukkah, which he obviously wore in front of an actual menorah:

Fans of Barsky’s work have inundated him with requests for their own funky sweaters. Buta the talented knitter says that’s a task he can’t take on.

“Many, many people, I don’t even know how many, but probably hundreds of thousands of people are begging me for sweaters, and I feel bad, but I can’t become a human sweater mill,” he said. “It’s just not possible.”

If you’re among Barky’s fans and were hoping to get your hands on one his unique designs, though, you may soon be in luck after all. He says he hopes to one day assemble a team of professionals who can help him mass-produce his sweaters and bring them to the market.

Until that dream becomes a reality, you’ll just have to feast your eyes on Barky’s designs by following his social media accounts!
