This huge new TV takes up an entire wall

Unless you’re the proud owner of an in-home movie theater, chances are your TV would look teeny-tiny compared to Samsung’s new and incredibly large TV, which is appropriately named “The Wall.” This enormous television is 146 inches and features top-notch display technology known as microLED, something that Samsung has said will “set the standard for future screen technology.” In addition to delivering superior brightness, it also offers the “truest of natural colors.”

During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the South Korean company showed off this behemoth television, and explained why it will soon leave any other competitor in the dust.

“Made possible by Samsung’s advancements in semiconductor processing techniques and LED technology, the pixel LED modules of The Wall’s self-emitting technology are smaller than ever before, and each chip incorporates RGB color,” the company wrote in a recent press release. “As a result, The Wall’s self-emitting technology removes the need for color filters altogether and is able to deliver up to 2000 nits of peak brightness, brighter white hues, darker black shades and the truest natural colors.”

The Wall is unlike most TVs in that it doesn’t need a backlight. Moreover, the screen can be customized for different purposes. If, for whatever reason, you want the display to be smaller, you can adjust the settings accordingly.

The price of The Wall hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re sure it’s going to cost a ton of money. Let’s face it, this cutting-edge technology was never going to come cheap. Samsung has yet to announce an official launch date, but a press event is scheduled for March. So all you TV lovers, stay tuned!

In addition to The Wall, Samsung also introduced other screen innovations that can be used alongside its huge new TV, including AI technology that upgrades standard definition to 8K resolution, as well as support for virtual assistant app Bixby and smart home technology SmartThings.
