You Can Book a Spooky Sleepover In The ‘Ghosts Of Alcatraz Suite’

Haunted houses can be quite scary and lots of fun. However, if you’re looking for a next-level Halloween thrill, consider booking a full night of frights. While there are many noteworthy haunted hotels around the country, there’s an exclusive experience available for a limited time and only for the bravest of souls.

The San Francisco Dungeon, a scary attraction that guides visitors through the Bay Area’s dark history, is offering the chance for a private stay the week of Halloween where you can reserve one of three overnight stays in the “Ghosts of Alcatraz Suite” located beneath Fisherman’s Wharf. The price for a single night for two is a fitting $66.60.

Guests will stay in an “authentically reproduced cell” which includes two minimalist cots with white bedding and is illuminated by candles. After checking in at 8 p.m., thrill seekers can test their mettle in the dark dungeon with the ghosts of felons past.

In fact, this eerie overnight comes complete with everything guests need to make the most of the dungeon room. They’ll receive dungeon-issued pajamas, midnight snacks and a welcoming cocktail. Also included is a ghost story and a witching-hour séance for a spooky sleepover experience.

Before settling in for the night, guests get a VIP entry into the last San Francisco Dungeon show of the evening. When they wake (if they even sleep at all) the following morning, guests get breakfast in bed and a collection of dungeon goodies to take home. Checkout is at 8 a.m. the next morning.

The San Francisco Dungeon website boasts about how the “dark tales of murder and rage haunt these prison walls. Many who come to this room wake from nightmares screaming.” (Before you get too spooked, know its not an actual dungeon, and the notorious Alcatraz prison off which the experience is based is located on an island a couple miles away.)

Reservations open up  at Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. PST / 12 p.m. EST on a first-come, first-served basis via Booking.com. The three available evenings are Monday, Oct. 29; Tuesday., Oct. 30; and Wednesday, Oct. 31. This experience is only for guests ages 18 and older and no pets are allowed.

Whether or not you get any actual sleep, it’s guaranteed to be a spook-tacular night you’ll never forget!
