When we told you back in March that “Hocus Pocus 2” was officially happening, there were limited details about the cast. While we all hoped that the original Sanderson sisters — played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy — would return in the sequel, there was no cast confirmation at the time.

Now, there’s a bit of awesome news in the casting department: Sarah Jessica Parker has said that she would definitely be interested in starring in “Hocus Pocus 2,” as would Midler and Najimy.

In a radio interview with Bruce Bozz, Parker expressed her excitement about the project.

“I think that it’s something that Bette [Midler] and Kathy [Najimy] and I are all very  — we are very hospitable to the idea,” she said on Sirius XM’s ‘Quarantined with Bruce,’ “I think for a long time, people were talking about it as if people were moving forward with it in a real way, but we were unaware of it. But I think now we’ve gotten to the point where, we’ve agreed publicly to the right people, yes, that would be a very, very fun idea, so we’ll see, we’ll see what the future holds.”

It seems the project is moving forward with the original Sanderon sisters at least expressing a strong interest in being attached. Even back in October, Parker posted this cryptic message on her Instagram page:

Thora Birch, who played little Dani in the original movie, says she would also like to return to her role in a sequel.

“I’m excited about it. They’ve been talking about this reboot for five years. I’m excited to see what it all looks like,” the 38-year-old told Hollywood Life. “I know a little bit about a couple of ideas for stories, but I don’t know where it’s all going to fall at the end of the day.”

No word yet on whether Omri Katz (who played Dani’s big brother, Max) would return. However, he did recently post a picture to his Instagram showing that he is still close with other “Hocus Pocus” actors, including the film’s bullies, Jay (Tobias Jelinek) and Ernie/”Ice” (Larry Bagby). And yes, that is Doug Jones in the picture, who plays the infamous Billy Butcherson.

Notice another familiar face in that picture? It’s Vinessa Shaw, who played Max’s love interest in the original “Hocus Pocus.” And she similarly teased fans on her Instagram page by posting this picture with a caption that very much suggests a sequel is in the works:

Disney+ has lined up Adam Shankman to direct “Hocus Pocus 2.” While we don’t yet have an expected release date for the sequel, you can enjoy the original on Disney+ or Amazon Prime while you wait for that magical day!
