Actress Scarlett Johansson and “Saturday Night Live”‘s Colin Jost are engaged.
Johansson’s publicist confirmed the news to the Associated Press on May 19. The couple started dating in 2017.
Jost, 36, has never been married. Johansson, 34, has been married twice before.
Her divorce from French journalist Romain Dauriac was finalized in September 2017. The two wed in 2014 shortly after their daughter, Rose, was born.
Johansson was also married to actor Ryan Reynolds from September 2008 to December 2010.
Jost first commented publicly about Johansson to Entertainment Tonight at the September 2017 Emmy Awards. He shared how they met when Johansson was the guest host on “SNL” — over a decade ago.
“She’s pretty cool … It’s hard to have a lot of complaints, she’s pretty awesome,” he said. “The first time she hosted was the first year I was a writer on the show. So, we’ve kind of known each other since then…she’s the best.”
The two first went public at the 2017 American Museum of Natural History Gala in New York. The pair marked their first anniversary of going public at the same event this past fall, as seen below, where they look like they’re glowing.
Eagle-eyed “SNL” fans also spotted the duo getting cozy during the closing of a December 2017 episode of “SNL” filmed at the ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center.
They have not commented much publicly about their relationship but have appeared at events together, including at the premiere of “Avengers: Endgame” this month where they were bubbling over with affection, as seen below.
No wedding date has been set yet, said Johansson’s publicist Marcel Pariseau. Maybe the pair will decide to plan a wedding quickly while Jost is on summer break between filming “SNL” seasons.
As Vulture wittily pointed out, Johansson wouldn’t even need to change her ScarJo nickname if she chose to take Jost’s last name (which is unlikely) after they wed.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
