See what Carrie’s apartment from ‘Sex and the City’ would look like in 2018

2018 marks 20 years since “Sex and the City” came into our lives. So naturally, fans of the show have been reminiscing. Interior design company Modsy joined in on the fun and recreated Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment to be up-to-date with a modernized 2018 aesthetic.

The design company asked themselves what Carrie’s apartment would look like in 2018 if each of the ladies had gotten a turn to decorate it. Below, you’ll see what they came up with for Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha — and you’ll see that they’ve nailed each of these ladies’ styles from a design standpoint.

Just for a refresher — not that you could ever forget — you can see what Carrie’s apartment looked like one of the last times audiences laid eyes on it thanks to this clip from YouTube:

And here’s what it would look like now, 20 years later.

Carrie’s Makeover

Modsy points out that Carrie’s apartment wasn’t nearly as put together as her wardrobe. There was the chair that Aidan designed, shoes in the oven, and an overall relatable, home-y feeling. She was surrounded by the things she loved, and not much would change about that in 2018. Her apartment is the same in terms of mood — it’s just received a modern upgrade.

Of course, Carrie would still have a desk area for all of her writing:

She’d have art work and a nod to her very special Carrie necklace that she nearly lost in Paris on the wall!

Last, but certainly not least, she’d have an incredible closet. We’d expect nothing less!

Miranda’s Makeover

If Miranda were to take a turn redecorating the space for herself in 2018, the folks at Modsy think she’d give it a no-nonsense, clean feel. Miranda doesn’t beat around the bush — she cuts right to the chase, so only the essentials will do in her home.

She obviously needs a great couch for watching her pre-recorded favorite TV shows and eating chocolate cake when she gets home from a long day at the office.

Every item needs to serve a purpose. For instance, this bench at the end of the bed is a great place for folding laundry or kicking her heels off after work.

Of course, the muted color palette and clean feel is relaxing. This is just the kind of thing that the busy lawyer and mom needs! Way to go Miranda for putting herself first in 2018!

Charlotte’s Makeover

Charlotte definitely has classic taste, but that doesn’t stop her from keeping up with the times. To give Carrie’s former apartment an upgrade that’s in keeping with her own style, Charlotte would look to timeless pieces — think tufted chaises and chandeliers — to make the place feel like home.

Charlotte’s bedroom would, of course, be chic and luxurious.

There would be feminine touches — including dashes of pink — throughout.

The cream colors and gold accents have an elegant flair, which is quite fitting.

Samantha’s Makeover

Samantha is bold and wild, especially in comparison to her three best girlfriends — and her apartment would definitely speak to that. From playing with colors to accenting with bold prints, you’d better believe Samantha’s design style would be loud and proud.

For starters, she’d fill her living room with a huge, green, velvet couch. Not subtle, to say the least.

As for the bedroom, there’d be cozy accents, like this leopard print blanket.

Oh yeah — and a roaring fireplace to set the mood.

Clearly, not too much would have changed 20 years later. These women would still be unapologetically themselves. They’d also be forward-thinking and ever-evolving, which is why we loved them in the first place. And if their apartments looked this good — can you imagine their clothes? They’d be to die for!
